Department of Commerce said in its website that the second batch of coke export quotas in this year is 6.13 million tons. The total export quotas has climbed to 11.91 million tons and almost equal to the export quotas in last year, which was 12.01 million tons.

According to Department of Commerce, the second batch of coke export quotas would be assigned to 37 domestic companies which have been qualified in coke export, and China Minmetals, Sinochem and Sinosteel would get the most export quotas. The quotas arrangement is based on export performance of companies from 2006 to 2008.

The coke export in China has been down. China total coke export is total 206 thousand tons in the price of $355.3, and the total value is $73 million from January to May. The coke export in May is 22 thousand tons, and reduced by 12.4% compared to last month and reduced by 99% year-on-year.

The plunge is caused by two reasons. The one is that high export tax and the other is low demand.
