Aquila to study feasibility of Pilbara iron ore project

Pilbara iron ore explorer Aquila Resources will spend $84 million in the next financial year developing its west Pilbara iron ore project.

Aquila has tenements at Red Hill, Yaleen, Mount Stuart and Mount Elvire.

The company is planning to develop a project that would export 30 million tonnes per annum from Onslow or Cape Preston.

The money will be spent on a feasibility study into the proposed project which will include an accelerated exploration drilling program.

The company's Russell Tipper says, like other juniors, Aquila would like to share infrastructure to get its ore to port.

"I think that's our strong preference. We're looking at a number of port options and we're talking to other parties all the time about coming together and sharing the quite high costs of developing infrastructure in the Pilbara," he said.
