BUENOS AIRES – Argentine and Russian executives, government officials and diplomats met last week in Moscow to discuss mutual investment opportunities, with a focus on the mining sector.
The Argentine Mining Secretariat arranged the event, which was hosted by Argentine Mining Secretary Jorge Mayoral, director general of the Institute of Scientific Investigation of the Geology of Russia Alexander Alexeev and president of the Argentine-Russian Business Council Dimitri Titov.
Argentina will become the sixth biggest gold producer, third in silver and either first or second in lithium production in the next ten years, Mayoral said in a presentation aimed at attracting investment.
Copper production is also expected to increase by ten times, he said.
Argentina has arranged visits by delegations to China and Russia because these countries are becoming increasingly important investors in the mining sector, the Mining Secretariat said.
