Hutubi County, located in northern China’s Xinjiang Autonomous Region, plans to build a coal-dedicated railway in the near future to step up its coal transports from southern mountain regions, sources reported.
The county, rich in coal resources, attracted investments from large groups including Datang, Mingji, Shenhua, ChinaCoal and Shougang, capitalizing on the opportunity of developing Zhundong coal reserves.
The county is expected to produce nearly 20 million tonnes in the following five years if the five groups all put into operation, with 3.4 million kilowatts generation capacity, valuing more than 10 billion yuan.
It is learned that the railway project is jointly invested by Datang, Mingji, Shenhua, China Coal and Shougang.
