This video was taken at a Superfund site in Northern Nevada. It illustrates a sonic drilling rig taking soil core samples used for analysis of contamination. The Sonic drill head is a technologically advanced, hydraulically activated unit that imparts high frequency sinusoidal sonic wave vibrations into a drill string to effectuate a cutting action at the bit face.
