They said it couldnt be done, to float a 300 Tonne rig on pontoons in the middle of a sago swamp. A 100 tonne drag line crane sitting on a pontoon dredgeing 7km of canal to create access to the drill site. The rig was mostly floated in on the local native dug out canoes (2 abreast, drill pipe, mud tanks. ect) The heavier parts flown in with a Bell 214 Chopper. The hole was drilled successfully. we were flown daily to the rig from Angorum village to the site which was located up the Sepic River near the village of Kerum.
