Part 1 in the series. China's growing appetite for natural resources has helped trigger a worldwide commodity price boom. Many of Africa's natural resource-based economies have benefited tremendously from the recent rise in commodity prices. In addition to buying natural resources at higher prices from African countries, China is also investing heavily throughout the continent building roads, schools, hospitals, bridges, railways and other infrastructure. But how much is Africa really benefiting from all this. This series examines how economic relations with China have had dramatically different consequences in different African countries.
